929 CRASH COURSE IN TANAKH

  • Marlene Meyerson JCC 334 Amsterdam Avenue New York, NY, 10023 United States (map)

929 is the number of chapters in Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible. 929 English is a project dedicated to creating a global Jewish conversation around issues that unite and divide us, but always anchored in or inspired by Tanakh. Reading through a literary lens, we will examine the books of Joshua, Judges, and Samuel, with an eye toward structure, broad themes, and historical/political context. The course will draw upon the daily reflections of 929 writers and contributors and will be taught by Rabbi Adam Mintz, Director of 929 English, Shira Hecht-Koller, 929 Director of Education, and Rabbi Jeremy Rosen.

Three sessions: Mondays Nov 11, Nov 25, and Dec 9 from 8-9pm.

No previous knowledge of the Bible or Hebrew is required.
